Across the metrics tested in this benchmark, Recall.ai ranked highest overall among meeting bot APIs evaluated. In controlled tests across Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams, Recall.ai consistently demonstrated stronger reliability, recording quality, diarization and transcription accuracy, returned transcripts and recordings faster, and logged faster join times than the alternatives tested.
All providers were tested under identical meeting conditions to ensure a fair comparison. Each provider was tested using the same meeting instances across Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams. Baseline testing included 100 meetings per provider per platform.
Join times, leave events, failures, artifact delivery, and readiness latency were logged programmatically for each meeting run. No vendors were allowed to submit recordings or selectively choose test cases.
This benchmark reflects observed results from controlled meeting runs, not vendor-provided examples.
Recall.ai also supports Webex, GoTo, Slack Huddles, etc. Those platforms were excluded from head-to-head testing because competitors do not support them.

Reliability measures whether a meeting bot can successfully join meetings, remain connected, and produce complete artifacts. We track join failures, bot detection by the platform, post-join dropouts, and whether recordings and transcripts are ultimately delivered.

Recall.ai had the highest overall successful session rate, with fewer bot detections, join failures, dropouts, and missing artifacts.
Ad hoc meeting reliability measures how reliably a bot can join and remain in meetings when the join request is issued immediately, rather than scheduled ahead of time. This reflects production workflows where bots are triggered dynamically from a meeting link or event.
We measure the full lifecycle of the join attempt across Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams, including bot detection (when the platform blocks the bot), join failures, bot dropouts after joining, and successful joins. A successful run requires the bot to both join and remain in the meeting for the duration of the meeting.

Recall.ai achieved the highest successful session rate, with zero bot detections and dropouts and fewer join failures across platforms.
Recording reliability measures whether a complete recording (audio/video) is successfully produced after the meeting ends.
Failures include missing recordings, incomplete recordings, or recordings that end prematurely due to bot disconnects.

Recall.ai delivered the highest number of completed recordings across the video conferencing platforms. Success rates only include sessions the bot joined. Ties are broken by total joined sessions.
Transcript reliability measures whether a transcript becomes available after the meeting ends (for sessions where the bot joined).
Failures occur when transcripts are missing, either because the transcript was never delivered or because the bot joined but never generated a transcript.

Recall.ai delivered the highest number of completed transcripts across the video conferencing platforms. Success rates only include sessions the bot joined. Ties are broken by total joined sessions.
Quality measures the integrity and usability of transcripts and recordings produced by each meeting bot provider. This includes recording stability (audio and video), visual cleanliness of recordings, transcript error rates, and the accuracy of speaker attribution in transcripts.
We evaluate how often recording issues occur during meetings, including audio or video cutting out, distorted audio, missing segments, visual glitches, and the video view jumping or rearranging during the recording. We also measure transcript and diarization accuracy to determine how accurate transcripts are and how reliably transcripts attribute speech to the correct participant.
These metrics reflect how usable meeting artifacts are for downstream applications.

Recall.ai demonstrates the highest overall quality across both recording and transcription. Recordings show no observable visual or audio degradation, with no intrusive UI elements such as popups. Recall.ai also leads in speaker diarization and achieves the lowest transcription error rate, with no catastrophic failures such as missing segments or nonsensical output.
Transcription quality is measured using word error rate (WER), which quantifies how closely a transcript matches the ground truth. WER is calculated as the number of substitutions, insertions, and deletions needed to align the transcript with the reference, normalized by the total number of reference words. Lower WER indicates higher accuracy. In this analysis all providers were evaluated using their default transcription providers.

Recall.ai achieved the lowest word error rate across all platforms. It also outperformed other meeting bot API providers when using the same transcription provider, indicating Recall.ai's performance advantage extends beyond transcription provider differences.

Diarization accuracy measures how correctly transcripts attribute speech to the correct participant.
Errors typically appear as speech assigned to the wrong speaker, incorrect speaker counts, or misattribution during overlapping speech.
The figure below shows speaker timelines from each provider alongside the ground truth for the same meeting. Providers differ in both segmentation and labeling: some assign participant names, while others use generic speaker IDs (e.g., “Speaker 1”). This example shows how you can compare different provider-generated speaker timelines for the same meeting.

Recall.ai achieved the highest speaker attribution accuracy across tested platforms.

We measure diarization accuracy by comparing each provider’s speaker-labeled timeline to a ground-truth speaker timeline using time overlap in seconds. From there correctly attributed time is defined as the intersection between the two after mapping speaker IDs by maximum overlap. We report accuracy based on correctly attributed time over provider-labeled and ground-truth speaking time respectively. Results are aggregated using talk-time weighting and credit only correctly matched portions during overlapping speech.
In the box plots the line in the middle is the typical value (median). The box represents the middle half of results. The whiskers show the typical range outside the box. Higher is better for diarization accuracy.
Audio quality measures how consistently a provider captures clear and complete audio throughout a meeting. We track issues such as audio dropouts, clipping, and missing segments, which can make recordings difficult or impossible to use for transcription, analytics, or playback.
This metric is reported as the percentage of recorded videos classified as clear audio versus degraded audio for each provider across platforms. The ideal outcome is 100% clear audio and 0% degraded audio.

Recall.ai delivered the most stable recordings with no degraded or dropped audio.
Recording quality evaluates the integrity and stability of audio and video artifacts produced by each provider. We measure issues such as audio dropouts, clipping, missing segments, resolution instability, and encoding efficiency.

Recall.ai delivered the most stable and professional video recordings. In all of the videos evaluated Recall.ai showed no video quality issues.
Speed measures how long it takes for artifacts to become available after a meeting ends and how quickly meeting bots join meetings.
We evaluate artifact processing time and join latency across providers and platforms. Faster joins reduce the risk of missing early meeting content, while faster artifact availability allows downstream systems to process recordings and transcripts sooner.
These metrics are especially important for real-time and near-real-time workflows built on meeting data APIs.

Recall.ai has lowest transcript and recording delivery latency as well as meeting bot join latency.
Recording availability speed measures how long it takes after a meeting ends for audio or video recordings to become available through the API.
Both median transcript delivery latency and transcript delivery latency distribution are tracked.

Recall.ai delivered faster and more consistent recording readiness times across providers.
Lower latency and a smaller interquartile range, or middle 50%, are better. Smaller middle 50% indicates a more consistent result.
Transcript availability speed measures how long it takes after a meeting ends for the final transcript to become available.
Both median transcript delivery latency and transcript delivery latency distribution are tracked.

Recall.ai produced transcripts faster and with more consistent readiness times.
Lower latency and a smaller interquartile range, or middle 50%, are better. Smaller middle 50% indicates a more consistent result.
Ad hoc join time distribution measures how quickly bots join meetings when the join request is issued immediately.
We analyze median join times and as well as join time distribution across providers and platforms.

Recall.ai consistently joined meetings faster and with less variability than competing providers.
Lower latency and a smaller interquartile range, or middle 50%, are better. Smaller middle 50% indicates a more consistent result.
Integration and feature support measures which platforms, APIs, and meeting capabilities are supported by each provider.
This includes video conferencing platform support, recording options, transcript capabilities, webhooks, realtime streaming, bot controls, and other developer-facing features.

Recall.ai supports the broadest set of platforms and meeting bot capabilities.

Recall.ai’s Meeting Bot API competitors are primarily Meeting BaaS, Nylas, and Skribby. There are no existing competitors to Recall.ai’s Desktop Recording SDK.
Recall.ai offers the most reliable meeting bot API across all video conferencing platforms. Testing each meeting bot provider across over one hundred meetings per video conferencing platform showed Recall.ai to be the most reliable, stable, and highest quality provider.
In ad hoc meetings, Recall.ai’s meeting bots were the fastest to join. Recall.ai’s bots also joined scheduled meetings on time, but not early, ensuring coverage without unnecessary cost.
Recall.ai has the best speaker diarization. In tests with both overlapping and single-speaker audio, Recall.ai performed over 10 percentage points better compared to the next closest competitor.
Recall.ai produces the highest quality recordings. In testing, its audio and video showed no degradation. Meeting BaaS, Nylas, and Skribby delivered cluttered videos with UI elements and popups, while Recall.ai had no such issues.
Recall.ai produces the highest quality transcripts. In testing, calls to Recall.ai's word error rate was more than 20 percentage points lower than the next best meeting transcription API.
Recall.ai is the best Google Meet meeting bot API provider. Recall.ai joined meetings quickly, avoided dropouts and bot detection, and produced consistently clean recordings and transcripts. Skribby was the least reliable, with many bots detected and excluded from the meeting.
Recall.ai was also the top Microsoft Teams meeting bot API provider in testing. While Skribby was the runner-up, it performed worse in quality testing. Skribby's transcripts showed more than 20 percentage points higher word error rates, diarization accuracy was more than 10 percentage points lower than Recall.ai, and recordings were riddled with popups, making it a less professional option for video.
Recall.ai is the best provider for Zoom recording and transcription. It successfully joined meetings 100% of the time, delivered clean recordings and transcripts, and achieved the highest speaker diarization accuracy, with over a 10 percentage point lead over competitors.
Recall.ai is the only provider that supports breakout rooms.
Recall.ai supports more video conferencing platforms than any other provider including Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, and more. If you also need Slack support, check out the Desktop Recording SDK.
Recall.ai is priced similarly to Meeting BaaS and lower than Nylas. When Skribby is configured to record video and share real-time audio, the price difference is $0.05. However, Skribby cannot be configured to add functionality like real-time video, does not have support for bot interactivity, calendar integrations, and does not have robust docs or support engineers, all of which Recall.ai provides at no additional cost. Recall.ai offers volume discounts and includes more functionality without extra fees, making it the best value for most users.
Meeting bot APIs were tested across hundreds of meetings to test quality, latency, reliability, and stability. Additionally, engineers feature tested each meeting bot API to fairly assess functionality.
